Dancer in Red (Diptych)

£440.00

Artwork Description: This dynamic performance diptych, made of two oil paintings, shows a belly dancer in the middle of her routine. It really captures the fluid motion and energy of live performance. The first painting highlights her poise and reach, showing her open posture and outstretched arms as her long hair flows across her shoulder in a graceful, measured way.

The second painting lets loose the full drama of movement, freezing the high point of her dance as she lifts a billowing silk veil overhead. In both paintings, the fiery crimson dress—with its intricate white lace and shimmering details—stands out against a neutral, softly blended background, creating a vivid look at fabric, rhythm and expressive grace.

Key Technical Details for Collectors:

  • Subject: Performance study diptych (Belly Dance & Veil Motion)

  • Palette: Vibrant scarlet red, warm crimson, lace white, soft charcoal and warm skin tones

  • Atmosphere: Energetic, expressive and dynamic with fluid drapery

  • Materials: 20'“x18” (40×50cm) Oil on Linen. Michael Harding Professional Oil Paint

This is a more personal pair of paintings. A friend of mine used to compete in dance competitions and was happy to share some old photographs that I could use. The dresses were what really caught my eye, especially knowing they were handmade by her mother, who is also a friend.
