Commission Requests.
My bespoke commission service lets you turn special moments and cherished subjects into a truly personalised piece of art that captures what matters most to you. Whether it’s a portrait of a loved one, highlighting their unique personality and expression, a faithful depiction of a pet that has been a loyal companion or a painted memory of a special holiday that holds sentimental value, each commission is crafted with careful attention to your preferences and specific requests. Using a high-quality reference photograph, the painting will interpret and enhance the image, rather than just copying it. This ensures that the artwork reflects your desired mood, style and colour palette, resulting in a truly unique piece that resonates with your personal taste and emotions. Throughout the process, I keep the lines of communication open to ensure that the final piece perfectly aligns with your vision, providing you with a lasting keepsake that you will treasure for years to come.

Typical Timeline Structure - Example Portrait.
The overall time for a painting can vary significantly depending on several factors including the size and complexity of the piece. Additional time-consuming elements include the number of comments for adjustments, varnishing and shipping. My method involves building paintings in layers, each of which requires time to dry before further layers can be added.
Consequently, the time required can range from seven weeks to thirteen weeks or more.
I believe any rushed process would compromise the quality of the piece which I would not accept.
1–2 weeks, depending on request, reference quality and availability for discussion.
The initial request or form for the commission artwork is submitted. A discussion will then take place on the appropriate reference picture(s) to be used for the final piece. This is also the time to discuss variations to the composition and colour palette.
At this stage the size of the piece is discussed and the price set. A deposit will be requested before work commences.
1–3 weeks, depending canvas availability and comments supplied for changes.
Once the deposit has been cleared, the canvas will be ordered, which can take up to five days.
The canvas will be primed and the initial drawing underpainting will be completed. This will demonstrate that the initial brief on size and composition aligns with the request and will be shared with the client for feedback.
Comments will be taken on and adjustments made.
2-4 weeks, depending on the size and complexity and comments supplied for changes.
The main painting layers will be rendered and the colour and values will be finalised. Upon completion of this stage the painting will be shared with the client for any final comments on the overall appearance.
The painting is not yet complete but all the main elements should now be established.
3-4 weeks, depending on size and complexity. time to allow varnish to dry and shipping.
Final details and glazes will be added and the painting will be deemed complete.
The painting will be left to dry for one to two weeks before a coat of varnish is applied.
It will then be packaged and shipped to the client, which can take three to five days.
*It is important to note that the painting continues to dry and cure for approximately six to twelve months but is touch dry at this stage. The varnish will protect it during this process.
