Growing up in the lovely Perthshire area of Scotland, I was always drawn to art and drawing, much like the story of a child with pencils, crayons and paper. This love stayed with me through school, where I even got some awards, though I couldn’t quite make it my career back then.

After a few decades and some encouragement from friends, I decided to pick up the brushes again and have spent the last decade improving my skills for oil painting. I did this part-time while working full-time, which allowed me to invest in painting and training materials.

While I thought about formal art school when I was younger, I chose a more personal learning path instead, getting better through working with local artists, watching YouTube tutorials and reading traditional art books. This mix of modern and classic learning has helped me develop my own style, which shows not only my art but also my deep interest in the history and development of art.

I really care about being authentic and making good work, which is why I choose my materials carefully. I mostly work on linen with professional-grade oil paints, including the famous Michael Harding handmade oils, and I think my pieces show a sense of quality and artistic honesty.

I’m happy to do commissions on lots of different subjects. I’ve recently finished portraits, pets and landscapes.

I’ve decided to cut back on my work hours so I can focus more on painting and sharing my art.
